“You have the poise and elegance of
a dog thief” she said, sipping free white
wine at yet another private view. I, of
course sucked cider through a straw
desperately searching for new words
to say ‘thank you’. Then somebody
took a photograph of us and she
smiled through brand of new gritted
teeth. This photo does not feature
in my family album.
Dollman is both artist and art tourist. He
resents pretence but cannot deny the lure
of free alcohol and a chance to inhale
something exciting; be it persons known
or unknown, art, humour or perfume.
